What is Pasture-Raised?
At Farm2Fork, our poultry are genuinely pasture-raised. They live outdoors with 24/7 access to fresh grass, roaming freely and moving onto new pasture every day. This keeps them stress-free, naturally fertilises the soil, reduces parasites, and spreads nutrients across our fields.
Natural Diets
Poultry cannot live on grass alone, so we supplement their diet with organic grains. Alongside this, they forage for bugs and grubs, giving them a healthy, balanced diet that supports natural behaviour and wellbeing.
Freedom to Roam
-
Chickens: Spend their days roaming freely across the pasture. They have mobile field shelters for shade, protection from bad weather, and safety from aerial predators. These shelters move daily with the flock as they graze down the field.
-
Turkeys: Sleep in custom-built mobile roosts we call the gobblygo, allowing them to perch high at night as they would in the wild. By day, they graze a fresh “salad bar” of grasses and plants.
-
Geese: Graze freely through our meadows with mobile shelters for protection, rotated daily to new pasture.
Protected by Guardians
Our poultry are safeguarded by Maremma Livestock Guardian Dogs, who keep constant watch for predators and ensure the birds feel safe at all times.
Pasture-Raised vs Free-Range
Many birds labelled “free-range” or even “organic” are kept in large static sheds, meaning their pasture quickly turns to mud and they rarely access fresh grass. At Farm2Fork, our daily rotations guarantee birds enjoy clean ground, space, and a truly pasture-raised life.
Seasonal Farming
We only raise poultry during the warmer months when they thrive outdoors. We never force them through harsh winter conditions, because animal welfare always comes first.
