Beef Hanger (Onglet) Steak

Sometimes called the “butcher’s steak” (because butchers used to keep it for themselves), the hanger steak is a hidden gem – prized for its incredible flavour and loose, tender texture.

Cut from the lower belly of the animal, this is one of the most flavourful steaks you’ll find, with a rich, almost gamey depth that stands up beautifully to bold seasoning or marinades. Best cooked quickly over high heat and served medium-rare, it’s a favourite for flash-frying, grilling or searing in a hot cast iron pan.

Tip: Slice it against the grain after resting for the best texture.
